Lois Jane Bruns, 72, of 622 2nd Avenue N.E., Waverly, died Friday evening, September 1 at Manor Care Health Services in Waterloo of natural causes.
Lois was born November 22, 1933 in rural Denver, daughter of August and Mary Struckman Kirchoff. Lois attended school in Janesville, graduating from Janesville High School in 1951. Following her schooling, Lois worked at Black's Department Store in Waterloo, and then attended Beauty School. On October 24, 1954, Lois was united in marriage to Gerald A. Bruns at Peace Evangelical Church in Waverly. The couple made their home in Waverly, where Lois raised her family.
She enjoyed reading books and liked to crochet, but most of all she enjoyed fishing with her father and Gerald, and attending all of her grandchildren's sporting events and activities.
Lois is survived by her husband, gerald of Waverly; two daughters, Regina Ohrt of Royal Center, Indiana, and Wendy (Blaine) Davis of Waverly; one son, Robbie (Teddy) Bruns of La Porte City; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ernest (Ann) Kirchoff of Denver.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Becky Bruns on August 28, 2004; one great-granddaughter, Emily; three brothers, Albert, James, and Owen Roberts; and two sisters, Grace Moran and Mary "Dean" King.
Celebration of Life Services Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with Pastor Nathan Frazee officiating. Burial in Harlington Cemetery, Waverly.
