On 24 September 1932, she married Roy and they had fifteen children. Five died in infancy or childhood and they raised five girls and five boys on their farm in Catoosa, Oklahoma. Their farm is now owned by a construction company, but their (condemned) house still stands and can be seen from Highway 266.
Lela was a fine quilt-maker, who had a heart as big as the oceans. She is loved and missed dearly.
