---
Marie Catherine Benko, daughter to Janos (John) Benko and Anna Farkas was born in Blagorohovac, Hungary (according to a 1906 ship manifesto). She came to the US with her mother, Anna Farkas, but took the last name of Szabo when Anna Farkas married her second husband, Anton Szabo. Her mother, Anna Farkas (Benko-Szabo) left two children behind when she came to the US with Marie, her oldest son Julius and her youngest daughter, Julia. Marie had a club foot, affecting her mother's decision to bring her older daughter with her on the boat.
