OBITUARY
Niels Andersen
Niels Andersen, a former Tyler resident, died at his home in Oregon, Wis., on Wednesday, February 24th, and the remains were brought here Saturday for burial.
Mr. Andersen was born in Fyn, Denmark, May 15th, 1852, being at the time of his death 79 years, 9 months and 9 days old.
Funeral services were conducted at Oregon, Wis., the home town, on Friday. Services were conducted here on Monday afternoon at the Jens Jasperson home and later in the Diamond Lake Church, Rev. Strandskov officiating at both places. Interment was made in the Diamond Lake Cemetery. Mr. Andersen has been married twie and both of his wives are buried at that place.
Mr. Andersen and his first wife came here in the early '80's and lived on the farm in Diamond Lake for many years. In this family were five children, one of whom, Anna, died last winter. The other children are Andrew Andersen, of Virginia (married to Flora Ehret), Mrs. Rose Omen, of Madison. Wis., Sena Andersen,, of California, Mrs. Emma Sonnichsen, of Couer de Alene, Idaho. Mrs Andersen died in 1896 and in April 1900, Mrs. Andersen was married to Miss Inger Christensen, about thirty years ago, and she died in 1927. To this union were born two sons. Victor and Christ, who were both here for the funeral.
In 1914 they moved to Tyler and built the hose now owned by T.H. Lampe.
In 1917 they moved again, this time to Wisconsin. Mr. Andersen has been sick for a number of years and was totally blind for some time, but an operation restored the sight of one eye some time ago.
There were many beautiful flowers from the old friends in this ommunity and some from Wisonsin.
The pall bearers were Peter Andersen, R.C. Mitchell, Andrew Larsen, Verner Christensen, Carl Nielsen and Jens Jasperson.
Mr. Andersen had many friends in this and the Diamond Lake community who were all present to pay their last respects to their friend of the old days.
The Herald joins with these friends in extending sympathy to the two sons.
