"Silas Burt, 67 years old, a well known and highly respected citizen of this place, died Wednesday evening at his home in South Adams street. He had been a familiar figure on these streets for many years and had gained the esteem of a large circle of friends. For probably two years he has been gradually failing of tuberculosis, which caused his death. He was a member of all branches of the Odd Fellows Lodge, having been a member almost as long as the oldest member of the order. For hearly twenty-seven years he was employed by Harry Watts.
A widow and two children survive--Harry Burt and Mrs. Harry Cooley and on grandson, Roy burt. Two half brothers live at Kokomo.
The funeral will be in charge of the Odd Fellows Lodge and conducted from the Christian Church this (Friday) afternoon. Interment in the Knightstown cemetery."
