A car wreck near Cokeville and the life of Gilbert Turner Jr. 36, was instantly snuffed out Saturday evening November 9th. Jack Mallory of Afton was in the same car but was not fatally injured. Young Gib as he was commonly called to identify him from his father, has been a prominent figure in Star Valley's public life for several years.
He has run the High School bus for over seven years, graduated from high school and been Librarian and teacher during this time. In the Fairview ward he has an efficient Sunday School teacher, Scout Master, Basketball Coach, MIA Counselor and Genealogical Leader.
At present he is Stake M.Men Leader. Gib was a fine fellow, honored and respected wherever he went by many friends.
He was born at Bountiful Utah on January 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Turner Sr. When he was six years old he came with his father and mother to Star Valley, where he has lived the rest of his life except for a short time in Montpelier where he worked in the Mutual Creamery.
He received all his schooling here. On July 23, 1936 he and Vilate Erickson were married at Paris, Idaho and in the same fall went to Logan and did their temple work. They are the parents of six children; Elaine, Keith, Donald, Darlene, Rex and Gail.
Besides his wife, children and parents he leaves five sisters and two brothers to morn his loss, They are: Mrs Lavon Erickson, Afton, Mrs Hazel Crook, San Francisco California; Mrs Louise Johnson, Auburn, Erva and Orla, Fairview, Ballard (Dutch) of San Francisco and Duane of Fairview.
Because so many friends wished to attend the funeral, it was held in the Stake Tabernacle Wednesday at 1:00 o'clock, under the direction of Bishop J.L. Brown.
The Services were as follows:
Funeral March---Elden Torbensen accompanied by Lee Call.

He spoke of Gilbert's fine wife and family and read the poem "Building a Temple".
