Son of William Thomas and M. Hannah Piatt. Married Harriet Edmona Myers Feb 17 1876 at Richwood, Union County OH. Thomas Family migrated from OH to KS around 1878 to Smith County and returned to Ohio and then to Illinois during 1882-1886. At the end of 1886 or early 1887, the family once again migrated to Kansas to Hodgeman County, then to Barton County and finally settled on a farm southwest of Stafford in Union Township Stafford County where his first wife died in 1904. He then married Orra E. DeSelms October 18 1905 and they lived on the farm until around 1917 when they moved into the town of Stafford where Samuel died April 14 1918.
