Olive Hanson Chugg

LOGAN, UTAH - Olive Hanson Chugg, 96, passed away Thursday, Sep. 4, 2008 in Logan, Utah of natural causes due to age. Olive was born on December 18, 1911 in Providence, Utah. She was the oldest child of 9 children born to Oliver and Emily Maddison Hanson.

She attended Providence Elementary, South Cache High School and graduated from Utah State Agriculture College. She taught school for 30 years that included 12 years at Roosevelt Elementary School in Roosevelt, Utah and 18 years at Woodstock School in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She married Grant Ezra Chugg from Providence on Feb. 1, 1935 in the Logan LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on Sep. 11, 1988 in Murray, Utah.

She was active in the LDS church; serving as an Organist and Teacher for the Primary, Jr. Sunday School and Stake Mutual. She was a teacher in the Relief Society and a Visiting Teacher for many years. She enjoyed handiwork, crafts, and flowers. She was an avid basketball fan of the Utah Jazz.

Olive is survived by two daughters, Nadine (Jay) Ranzenberger, Providence, Utah, Kaye (Jerry) Shipman, Willow Creek, California. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Teresa (Wayne) Maughan, Ross (Pearl) Ranzenberger, Karen (William) Patterson, Ryan (Cami) Ranzenberger, Jim (Sue) Shipman, and John Shipman; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brothers Alvin Hanson, Frank Hanson, Wilford Hanson; and sister EmmaDell Blanch.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant, her parents and brothers Oliver Hanson, Walter Hanson, Norman Hanson and Robert Hanson.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cache Valley Assisted Living, Legacy House, and especially Alpine Hospice for the special care and attention given to our Mother.

Funeral services were held at 12 noon on Saturday, Sep. 27 in the Providence 4th Ward Chapel, 155 N. 100 East, Providence, Utah. A viewing was held from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the funeral services. Interment Providence Cemetery.
