Robert LeRoy Hanson

PROVIDENCE, Utah Robert, 83, died of a heart attack Tuesday morning, May 29, 2001, at his home. He was born July 30, 1917, the son of Oliver and Emily Hanson of Providence, Utah. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 to 1943. He married Janice Nelson of Smithfield, Utah, Dec. 17, 1943, in the Logan Temple. He was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He and Janice served two missions, one to Tulsa, Oklahoma (Cherokee) and one to Coventry, England. Bob worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority as a forester. For 20 years he lived in Tennessee, where he served as branch president for 15 years. In 1960, he moved to Evanston, Wyo. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service in the Uinta Mountains. He served as bishop for seven years. He loved to fish the streams, garden and restore furniture. A favorite place to fish and "flick a fly" in Utah was the Blacksmith Fork Canyon in Cache County.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, of Providence; three daughters and one son: Jeanne Davis (Mike) of Oroville, Calif., Ellen Robins (Clint) of Sandy, Utah, Maryann Hanson of Oroville, Calif., Robert Charles Hanson (Clarice) of Chico, Calif.; ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Robert has four brothers and two sisters: Olive Chugg of Providence, Utah, EmmaDell Blanch of Corvallis Ore., Walter (Helen) of Kensington, Md., Alvin (Gay) of Evergreen, Colo., Frank (Eileen) of South Jordan, Utah, Wilford of Providence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, in the Providence 1st Ward chapel with Bishop Kelly Rindlisbacher conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Friday evening and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, at the church. Burial will be in the family plot of the Providence Cemetery.
