He married Peggy Gabbard Meeks on August 16, 1953. He was a self employed brick mason and builder. He also owned Woods Motel and Family Restaurant and Woods Citgo. Meeks was a member of Greenfield Christian Church and the Hancock County Builders Association.
Surviving him are his mother, Thelma Ruth Marshall Meeks, daughters; Jill (Dale) Williams, of Charlottesville, Julie (Tom) Hopkins, of New Palestine, Jennifer (Alex) Wilson of Fishers, sister; Rose Ann McHenry of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Aaron, Adam, Amie, Isabella, Georgia; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Peggy Gabbard Meeks, father, Alvin Meeks and sister, Barbara Peck.
Visitation will be Monday, September 8th, 2008 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuaries in Greenfield.
Services will be on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend John Davis officiating. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis and will follow with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Hancock County Hospice Program or Greenfield Christian Church.
