Mattie Mae Cobb was born to Thomas Wheeler Cobb Sr. and Martha Elizabeth "Lizzie" Perry Wheeler Cobb on 26 Jan, 1897 in Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas. Mattie married James Alfred Wheeler in 1920 in Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas, before the passing of her father Thomas Wheeler Cobb Sr. They began the journey North to Childress County (between 1920 and 1927)where family were present. In 1927 Lizzie applied for the Confederate Pension of Thomas W. Cobb while living on the mail route, Arlie Route, Childress County. After that point the Wheeler Family and Lizzie made their way to McLean, Gray County, Texas. They made this their home and are buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery, McLean, Texas, beside her brother Thomas Wheeler Cobb Jr.
