Irvin A. Adcock, age 77, of 407 W. Fourth St., Vermont, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Jan. 11, 1931, in Pekin, a son of Irvin and Annetta (Bruder) Adcock. On July 24, 1955, Irvin married Dorla Baker in Vermont. She preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 1994. He later married Nyda E. Hamblin on Aug. 31, 1996, in Astoria, Ill. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Susie (and Terry) Smith of Vermont, Sandy (and Jim) Derry of Bloomington, Ill., and Sherry (and Ed) Wys of Mooresville, Ind.; three sons, Steve Adcock of Tremont, Ill., Stan (and Barb) Adcock of Table Grove, Ill., and Scott (and Lora) Adcock of Plymouth, Ill.; one stepson, Steve (and Donna) Hamblin and two stepdaughters, Lynette (and John) Smith and Jody (and Mike) Dean, all of Astoria; seven sisters, Liz Yerly of Congress, Ariz., Jacqueline Wright of Lemon Grove, Calif., Janet (and Jerry) Grimm of Ariz., Louise (and Don) Thomas of Manito, Ill., Joyce Ziegenbein of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., Linda Smith of Pekin, Ill., and Diane "Pete" (and Walt) Emmons of Manito; and five brothers, George Adcock of Beloit, Wis., Bob (and Vivian) Adcock of Yakima, Wash., Jerry (and Rae) Adcock of South Beloit, Ill., Byron (and Mary) Adcock of Pekin and Lyle (and Nancy) Adcock of Edmunds, Wash.

Irvin was preceded in death by one step great-granddaughter, Maddie Rhoades; and two sisters, Jeanine Smith and Wilma Ehrett.

He was a pattern maker at Ken-Ray Foundry in Vermont and later for Caterpillar Tractor Company in Mapleton for 28 years, retiring in 1995.

Irvin was a member of the Pattern Makers League of North America, the Vermont Christian Church, where he served as a deacon, and the Astoria Christian Church, where he served as an elder. He was a member of the Carrol Rankin American Legion Post 26 of Vermont.

Irvin served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954, earning the rank of Machinist Mate 2/C.

Interment will be in the Astoria Cemetery, with military rites accorded by his American Legion post.
