Mr. Wood was born April 6, 1921, to John and Nora Schultz, and raised by Arthur and Josephine Wood. After graduating from Buckeye Union High School, he went to San Diego to work at an airplane plant. He married Ruthie Dec. 8, 1941. He soon joined the Navy and served in the Pacific on a repair ship.

After World War II, he purchased land in Palo Verde and operated a dairy farm. He served on the Palo Verde Elementary School District Governing Board and as a deacon and trustee of Palo Verde Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Nelda Joy Winfield; four sons, Reuben of Palo Verde, Tom of Salome, and Tim and Robert, both of Buckeye; one sister, Lena Richardson of Ajo; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great- grandchildren.
