Served Two Terms As Red Bank Fire Chief

James R. Wolcott of Pinckney road, a resident of Red Bank for the past 50 years, died early yesterday morning after a long Illness. He had suffered several strokes in the past few weeks and last Friday was stricken with a hemorrhage, sinking into a coma. Mr. Wolcott, who was 62 years old, was born at Eatontown and was the son of the late Samuel and Charlotte M. Wolcott. For many years he was associated with Joseph W. Child and the late William S. Child in the operation of Child's bakery on West street, and later conducted a bakery of his own, retiring seven years ago because of ill health.

Mr. Wolcott was a member of Mystlc brotherhood of Masons, Hiram chapter, Royal Arch Masons, Field council. Royal and Select Masons, and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was also a charter member of the Red Bank Elks and served two terms as fire chief of the Red Bank department. He was a member of the Navesink hook and ladder company, the Ex-Fire Chiefs association, and the Exempt firemen's association.

Surviving, besides his wife, Mrs. Mary V. Wolcott, are two sons James R. Wolcott, Jr. of Red Bank, and Dr. George L. Wolcott, of Asbury Park; three brothers, Roland, Herbert and Percy Wolcott, all of Red Bank, and a sister, Mrs. Jacob Straus of Red Bank.

The funeral will ba held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at his late home with Rev. Herbert S. Craig, rector of Trinity Episcopal church officiating. Burial, in charge of Mount Memorial home, will be in Greenlawn cemetery at West Long Branch.
