James Rodger Thompson was born January 22, 1885 in Limestone County, Alabama to parents James Rodger and Maria C Wilson Thompson. Sometime between the 1900 census where he was 15 and still living at home with parents and 1910 where he was 25 and living with his parents, he had married Grace Rogers, they had had a child, a daughter, Gracie, and he lost his wife Grace the same day, buried her in the Limestone Presbyterian Cemetery, where in later years his parents would also be buried. He and daughter Gracie moved back in with his parents so he'd have help with his newborn daughter.
In 1918 he registered for the Limestone County, Alabama WWI draft where he shows that he is 33 years old married and gives his wife as Clara Thompson, this being Clara Viola Moyers, daughter of Rufus S and Fannie Moyers, not sure of the marriage date.
In 1920 he is found as head of his own household again and having daughter Grace age 12 and a new daughter with Clara named Clarita age 1- 1/12.
By 1940 he and Clara had 3 children, Clarita, 21, James R, 18 and Charles, 14, living in the household, James R's daughter, Grace had married Crutcher Glaze and left for her own home.
James Rodger passed in 1956 leaving Clara to live alone until her death in 1963.
