Harold B. "Sailor" Bristol went home to be with his Savior on September 16, 2008. Harold was born January 13, 1926 in Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Bristol and Fern Weeks, his brother, Bill Bristol, and his grandson, Brent Thomas Bristol. Harold grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1944. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy. He was a WWII veteran and very proud of his military service. He served in the Pacific from 1944 to 1946 as an Electrician's Mate Third Class aboard a "Tin Can". After his discharge from the Navy, he returned to Oklahoma City and went to work at Tinker AFB where many of his co-workers know him as Sailor. He retired in 1981 after a distinguished Civil Service career of 35 years. Harold was a big fan of college football and enjoyed playing dominoes. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting with a strong passion for quail hunting. He was an active church member and served for several years as a deacon. He was a long time member of Brookwood Baptist Church. He loved and adored his wife of 60 years, Anna Murlene, or as he would sometimes affectionately call her "Annabelle." He is survived by his wife, Anna Murlene (Gold) sons, Gary Bristol and wife, Vickie, Wayne Bristol and wife, Delia, Michael Bristol and wife, Coleen, grandchildren: Diana Waugh and husband Ronnie, David Bristol and wife Sarah, Shae Keen and husband Jason, Shelbie Bristol, Krista Cahill, and Shane Hawkinson and wife Miki, 10 great grandsons, 2 great granddaughters and 1 great granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by his brother Bob Bristol and wife Betty of Jenks, OK and sister Sherry Lynne Couzens and husband Richard of Meadow Vista, CA, numerous loving church friends, Navy Retiree friends, Tinker Retiree friends, church domino and Bible study friends. A special "thank you" for his special loving caregivers and Heartland Hospice. Viewing and visitation will be at Vondel Smith and Sons Mortuary, 6934 S. Western, Oklahoma City, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 PM Thursday evening. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, September 19, 2008 at Brookwood Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to Brookwood Baptist Church, 8921 S. Walker, OKC, OK 73139.
