James Herbert Maden, 74, died June 17, 1992 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Funeral services will be Saturday at Trigg and Calvert Funeral Home with burial in DeLand Cemetery with military rites accorded by the DeLand American Legion Post 102.

He was born September 23, 1917 at DeLand, son of James L. and Grace E. Hoover Maden. He married Marjorie E. Taylor on November 17, 1941 at Somerset KY. She survives along with a daughter, Pamela Holtz, Farmer City; a brother, Gaylord T. of Monticello; two sisters: Virginia of Monticello; and Carol McCullough of Shelbyville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Maden retired in 1982 from Caterpillar Company, Decatur. He served in Europe in WW II with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the DeLand Methodist Church; DeLand Masonic Lodge 812; and DeLand American Legion Post 102. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
