Florence Tysdal, 93, died Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Monday, August 25, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church, Parker with burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation will begin on Sunday at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker, with a Prayer Service to be said at 7:30pm Sunday evening.

Florence Selma Thompson was born on February 20, 1915 at Hurley, SD to Andrew P. and Elvina (Nelson) Thompson. At the age of 11 the family moved from Hurley to Lincoln County for a time before moving to Parker in 1929. She attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls.

On February 1, 1941 she was united in marriage to Selmer Tysdal at the East Side Lutheran Parsonage in Sioux Falls. She was the bookkeeper for the family egg and cream business for over 50 years and was employed with the Parker School lunch program. She has been a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Parker since 1941. Her husband Selmer died in 1995.

Grateful for having shared her life are a son Ronald and his wife Jean, Sioux Falls; a daughter, Phyllis Tysdal, Sioux Falls; 3 grandchildren, Renee Ingle and her husband Joel, Rochelle Nelson and her husband Pete, and Ryan; 5 great grandchildren, Cole, Kane, Clay, Jacob, and Ella; and a brother David Thompson and his wife LaVonne, Yankton, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Wendell, and 4 sisters, Eleanor, Gladys, Lilly, and Belva.
