Charles Grogan was born February 10, 1909, in Chanarambie Twp., Murray Co., MN to Charles and Lena Zimmerman Grogan. He grew up on the farm and attended Dist. 94 School. On June 11, 1953 he was married to Sybil Kinney at Nashua, IA. Following their marriage they lived at Chandler, MN, where they have lived since. Charlie worked for the Murray Co., Highway Dept. for 43 years and retired in 1974. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council and was Church President. He also has been Mayor and Councilman of the Village of Chandler, and served in the Chandler Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a patient at the Murray County Memorial hospital, Slayton, for four days and died there on October 19, 1985 at the age of 76 years. He is survived by his wife, Sybil, and three children; Cynthia, Mrs. Pat Kielty of Jackson, MN; Paul of Lakeville, MN and Michael of Anaheim, CA. He has eight grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Edna Smith of Sibley, IA; Woodrow "Bill" Grogan of Chandler, MN' Allen Grogan of Chandler, MN and Fern, Mrs. Orville Gunderson of Lake Wilson, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clarence and Emmet "Nick". Funeral Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Chandler, MN, October 22, 1985 at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. Robert Mortiz, officiating. Mary Borgstahl, organist. Solo Selection by Al Vis. Congregational Hymn No. 495. Pallbearers: John Vos, Ronald Mesner, Lester Ohmela, Robert Gregory, James Surprenant and John DeGreeff. Honorary Pallbearers: Leon Sierk, LeRoy Frisk, Gilbert Schuur, Arthur Warren, Rik Vande Voort, John Van Eck, Gerrit Prins and john Bones. Interment in Chandler Lutheran Cemetery, Chandler, MN.
