He was the son of William Henry Curtis 1794-1875? (Born & Died in Washington, Co, TN) and Sarah "Sally" Nancy Morris 1797-1860?. William's parents were Bolling Curtis 1763-1808 (B. VA & D. NC) & Mary Mae Lee 1769-1852. Husband of Rachel Morris 1824-1905 (Buffalo Ridge Cemetery) B.&D. in Washington Co, TN.

He was the father to 9+ children, yet in the 1900 census Rachel stated she had 4 of her 7 children living. My records show these children: Mary 1846, Armstead C 1849-1900 , William M 1853-1922, Maranda 1853-after 1870?, Anderson 1856-?, Caroline 1856-after 1870?, Martha A 1857-after 1870? , Andrew M 1859-1918, James M 1859-?.

In 1860 he was a "Collecting Officer" which may have been today's Tax Collector. His grandson Dimmin Curtis 1879-1936 (Oak Hill Cemetery) of Johnson City was also a Tax Collector.

Henry Geroge Curtis settled/farmed at least 600+ acres in Boones Creek. Oct 1866 his father sold the adjoining land for debt. Washington Dist. 11 (next to the White & Curtis farms) see newspapers.com Union Flag
