Sarah H. Schoffstall Hoy - Obituary:

Mrs. Sarah Hoy was born September 22, 1832 in the State of Pennsylvania; while yet young, she came with her parents to Fairfield county, Ohio. On the 17th Day of December 1857, she was united in marriage to Jacob Hoy. In 1869 they came to Henry county, taking up their residence on the farm which has been her home until just recently. This union was blessed with seven children, one son, and six daughters. Her husband preceded her to the heavenly home on January 1, 1902. One son and one daughter, also awaited her coming, where joy and peace rein supreme.

The daughters living are, Mrs. J. O. Blythe, of Seattle, Washington; Mrs. John Klein, of Napoleon; Mrs. Lyman Hall, of Napoleon; Mrs. C. J. Oatess, of St. Milo, Canada and Mrs. H. C. Burson, of Tacoma, Washington.

Mrs. Hoy was a devoted Christian woman, she having consecrated her life to God nearly 50 years ago, and when possible, she was found in the sanctuary on the Lord's day. She did what she could towards the advancement to Christ's Kingdom. She was a kind mother and a good neighbor always willing to help others. God's blessings were hers because of her faithfulness. She is gone but not forgotten, she is gone but her influence will go on forever. The entire community feels her death because a light has gone out that has been casting its light to others. Even though she is gone we would not wish her back because we know that she is happy with her master.

For some time her health has been gradually failing and on Monday, December 12, 1910, her life gradually came to a close, just 10 hours after her son-in-law, Mr. Lyman Hall, had passed away at whose home she had spent the last few months of her life. She was blessed with a life 78 years, 2 months and 20 days in length.

There remain to mourn her death, five daughters, 21 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral service was held in the Sharon M. E. church in connection to that of Lyman Hall, Rev. W. A. Alspach officiating, assisted by Rev. J. H. Albright and Rev. W. H. Baker. Interment is in the Shunk Cemetery.
