Fannie Alice Martin Barker, age 83, widow of Eli W. "Dub" Barker, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, in Wythe County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Barker was a member of the Marion Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for several years. She was a member of the Marion Rebekah Lodge No. 42, the Business & Professional Club, the Marion Pilot Club and the Marion Chapter No. 72 Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Baker Martin.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Greer and husband Rick of Rockledge, Fla., and Fran Horne and husband D. Clayton of Rural Retreat, Va.; two sisters, Dot Blevins of Chilhowie, Va., and Norma Ann Neitch of Flat Ridge, Va.; one brother, Claude Douglas Martin of Chilhowie; two grandsons, Dr. J. Brent Greer and wife Teresa and David Clayton Horne II and wife Erin; one granddaughter, Beth Farmer; two great-granddaughters, Madeline Newberry and Graycen Elizabeth Horne; two great-grandsons, Eli Carson Greer and Nathan Richard Greer; a special sister-in-law, Daisy Martin of Chilhowie; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel, with Dr. Mark Ross officiating. Memorial services will be conducted by Marion Chapel No. 72 OES just prior to the funeral service. Private graveside services will be held Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at Troutdale Cemetery, Grayson County, Va. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 p.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
