Wallace, prior to entering service, had attended Winnsboro High School. He entered armed service in August 1944 and received basic training at Camp Hood, Tex. He was assigned overseas with the 381st infantry, 96th division in February 1945. He participated in three major operations and was awarded the Purple Heart prior to his death in Okinawa.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. M. Wallace Riley, Winnsboro; his father, Nathaniel Riley, Conroe, Tex.; a sister, Earnestine Tarver, Winnsboro; a brother, Leo Wallace, Natchez; and his grandfather, J. H. Ashley, Winnsboro.
