Callie K. House Pinkston, 92, of Urbandale, Iowa and formerly of Farmersburg died Saturday, May 22, 2004, in Kavanagh House in West Des Moines, Iowa. She retired in 1977 after 24 years as a switchboard operator for Terre Haute First National Bank. She was born Feb. 16, 1912, in Farmersburg to Joseph House and Sophia Smith House. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Pinkston. Survivors include a daughter of Urbandale; a brother of Gaylord, Mich.; a sister-in-law of Jasonville; three grandsons, 2 of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and 1 of Arden Hills, Minn.; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Fred House, Greg House, Homer House, Robert House, Carl House, Virgil House and Paul House. She was a graduate of the former Farmersburg High School. She was an active member of Farmersburg United Methodist Church. Much of her social life centered on church activities such as choir practice, prayer meetings, board meetings, United Methodist Women, class parties and Sunday services. She also treasured her friends from high school, church and work. Services are 2 p.m. June 4 in DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Burial is in Farmersburg Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. June 3 in the funeral home.
