Roland Grant Allen was born of Ernest Roland Allen (1867-1944) and Maria G. Allen (1868-1955), immigrants from Michigan who had settled in Tangent, Linn County, Oregon. At first he stated his date of birth was Oct 1903, but is buried with a birth date of 1896. Either way, he married Viola Jordan in 1921 and they were expecting their 1st child in the winter of 1925 when she became ill with Eclampsia in her 5th month of pregnancy and died in Dec 1925. She is buried at Riverside Cemetery in Albany with her unborn child. He next married Eola L. Harris, (maiden name McTaggart) who had a daughter, Linnie Mae Harris, b.1925. They would not have gotten married until after her birth at the earliest as paternity had to be proven, so no divorce could be finalized until after the birth of a child. Eola, who Roland fondly referred to as "Eula", and Roland had a son they named Kenneth Earnest Allen, in 1932. They spent the rest of their years together on their farm in Tangent. Their son, Kenneth, was living with his paternal grandparents (Ernest and Maria Allen) when his grandfather was killed by a bull on Jan 25th, 1944. Eula died in Sept. 1981 at the age of 86 yrs. and was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Albany. Roland passed on February 22, 1990 at the age of 95 yrs. and was buried next to his dear "Eula" in Riverside Cemetery, Albany, Linn County, Oregon.
