Ada Sue Massengill Goins, of Caryville, went home to be with the Lord, on April 8 at the age of 71, at her home in the care of her family and the Hospice team of UT Hospital. She was born January 27, 1937, the daughter of the late Winnie (Sis) Massengill and Alonzo Massengill. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Caryville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rueben Massengill and sister, Mamie Lou Williams.
She is survived by her children, LTC (Ret) Charles Ward, Jr. and wife, Janis of Huntsville, AL; daughters, Lawana Blankenship and husband, Roger of LaFollette, Michelle Brewer and husband, Greg of Knoxville; grandchildren, Melissa Segroves, Benjamin Ward, Sarah Ward, Amy Carroll, Kasey Austin, Ashley Belew, Jansey
Brewer and Maryn Brewer; brothers, Glen Massengill and Rusty Massengill; sister, Wanda Jean Massengill, all of Caryville; five great grandchildren; eight nieces
and one nephew.
Funeral services were held April 10 at the First Baptist Church in Caryville with the Rev. William Boyd Bingham and Pastor Wayne Plucker officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Cross-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
