Jess Willard "Bill" English was the son of Andrew Jackson English and Andrew Mable "May" Williams English, both of Irving.

He married Madelyne Lenora Reeb on March 15, 1940. The couple had two children, Darlene and Carolene. In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in WW II. His family later joined him in San Jose, returning to Texas after the war.

The couple divorced, and he married Edna Carolyn Combs December 31, 1952. The couple had four children, Lynn Spiller, Mark English, Andrea English Coleman and Audra English.

Bill served more than 30 years with the Dallas Fire Department. He passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2008. He was survived by his brother David of Irving; his wife Edna, his children, Darlene, Carolene, Linda Burlingame, Lynn, Mark, Andrea and Audra; 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters: Houston Marrs, Albert "Jack", Russell, Curtis, Margaret, Esther, Myrtle, Mable and A.J. "Jay."
