Elder William Stanley Gordon, of Rolla, Mo., formerly of Pine Bluff and Beebe, AR., passed away on April 12, 1999, at the age of 91 after a lendthy battle with cancer.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John B. and Sondra Gordon of Rolla, Mo.; one son-in-law , Don Miller of Pine Bluff; two brothers and sister-in-law, Fred and Gladys Gordon of Carlisle, Lindell and Jean Gordon of Lonoke; one sister, Myrl Carpenter of Lonoke; three granddaughters---Pamela Miller and Janice Oaks of Pine Bluff and Tisha Clawson of Bolivar, MO.; two great granddaughters; and two great grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
W.S. Gordon's adult life was dedicated to preaching the Gospel, pastoring churches in Missouri, Arkansas, and California and working as editor of the Missouri Baptist Newspaper. During his 72 years in the ministry, he held many offices of leadership, both on district and state levels for the people he served.
Funeral services were at 10 A.M. April 14, 1999 at Westbrook Chapel with Brian Meade and Tony Crocker officiating. Burial was in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by Westbrook Funeral Home of Beebe, AR.

He was a retired BMA minister and former editor of the Missouri Missionary Baptist .
After surrendering to the ministry in 1933, he was ordained by Union Valley Baptist Church at Coy. He was a state missionary for AR. and MO. He attended Missionary Baptist College in Sherdan, AR., Arkansas State College in Jonesboro and Central Baptist College in Conway, AR.
His Arkansas pastorates include: Sharon Rose and South Main Baptist Churches in Malvern, First Baptist Church at Bald Knob, Eastside Baptist Church at Lonoke, Highway Baptist Church at Judsonia and Immanuel and New Hope Baptist Churches at Beebe. He also served as secretart/treasure of Missouri missions and clerk of the BMA of America and state and district associations.
