Miss McCarty Died From Burns
Miss Vera McCarty, 46, died Friday, July 15 in a Weatherford hospital as a result of burns she suffered on March 22, 1955. She had been staying with Mr. and Mrs. Henry McCary of Dennis for a long period and after Mrs. McCary's death she continued to care for Mr. McCary who is old and in ill health. On the morning of March 22, Miss McCarty had on a house coat and as she turned her back to the gas heater, it was ignited, and she suffered severe burns over a large part of her body.
She had been in the Weatherford hospital since that time and was thought to be improving and doctors felt that she would recover when complications developed, causing her death.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonidas McCarty of Acton where she was born and reared. She was a member of the Acton Baptist Church and was loved by a large circle of friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 16, at 3:30 at the Acton Tabernacle and interment was in the Acton Cemetery.
Her only immediate survivor is one brother, Ralph McCarty, and a number of nieces and nephews.
