She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Mount Vernon, Indiana.
In 1946, Florence united with Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church of Indianapolis, Indiana. In the words of Florence, "The Lord touched my life on July 9, 1967 and I will never be the same, my spiritual awakening is the greatest thing that ever happened to me." Her spiritual journey began with her baptism. She served faithfully at Allen Chapel as a member of the Fora Grant Missionary Society and was licensed an Evangelist in 1974 in the A.M.E. Church.She continued her evangelical ministry throughout her life. She dedicated herself to inspiring others with continuous words of prayer and support, visits, phone calls, especially in spreading the Word of Christ through her Bible Reading and Daily Bread prayers guides. The gospel message of forgiveness was her life.
She retired from RCA in 1967 after 22 years. She returned to the work force in 1972 and retired from Methodist Hospital as a nurses aid after 12 years of service.
On February 8, 1943, she united in marriage to Ulysses "Sparky" Waller and to this union four loving children, Judy (Waller) Edwards, Pamela (Waller) Wood, Garland Waller and Keith Waller, were born.
God called Florence Elizabeth Waller home on Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 9:50p.m. at the age of 77. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Ulysses "Sparky" Waller; children, Judy Edwards (Choice), Pamela Wood, Garland Waller and Keith Waller (Tiffany); grandchildren, Kelli McClain (Marlon), Kerry Edwards (Elizabeth), Krystal Lovely (Terry), Kevin Wood (Heather), Audrey Thomas (John), Sydney Waller, Sophia Waller, and Lola Waller; great-grandchildren, Blake McClain, Leah Lovely, Parker Edwards and Chase Lovely; brother, Clarence Clifford Dimmitt; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Lillian Blanche (Dimmitt) Wright, Maxine Clara (Dimmitt) Wright, Claudean (Dimmitt) Arnold and Glowdean (Dimmitt) Jackson; two brothers, Henry Clinton Dimmitt Jr., and Charles Edward "Jack" Dimmitt.
