Alice Stephenson, 89, of Ironton, a former Duck Run, Lucasville resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Bryant Health Center in Ironton.
She was born June 14, 1919, on Fallen Timber, Lucasville, a daughter of the late Thomas Luther and Martha Jane Wiles Conkel Sr.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Francis H. Stephenson, April 30, 2003; one son, Francis H. Stephenson II; three brothers, Harlan, Carl and Marvin Conkel; four sisters, Cynthia Conkel, Millie Wilson, Nell Hanes and Kathleen Adams.
She is survived by one daughter, Jane (Lawrence) Murphy of Ironton; two grand-daughters, Laura Jane Murphy of Ironton and Amy Beth White of Columbus; one brother, Thomas Conkel Jr. of Beaver; and one sister, Mary Wilson of West Portsmouth.
Alice was a homemaker and a 4-H adviser for over 50 years. She was a 1936 Stockdale High School graduate and attended Portsmouth Interstate Business College for one year. She was a member of Johnstown Baptist Church and a former member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville, with Elder Pete Horn officiating. Burial will follow in Rushtown Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
