He was killed and five other soldiers wounded when their armoured vehicle hit a roadside bomb. They were about 20 kilometres north of Camp Holland, near the town of Tarin Kowt, in the southern province of Uruzgan.
Aged 21, he was from Rekken. Jos enjoyed football (soccer) and was an ardent supporter of FC Twente. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, girlfriend and other family and friends.
