He was born July 28, 1875, in Henry County, the son of Phineas and Rebecca (Harshbarger) Brown.
On December 25, 1906, he was married to Retta Smith in Henry County. She preceded him in death November 19, 1952.
To this union were born one daughter, Mrs. Glen (Dorothy) Chatham of Salem; two sons, Donald Brown of Mt. Pleasant and Rex Brown of rural Mt. Pleasant; also seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Four brothers and his parents are predeceased.
He had farmed all of his life and homesteaded two years in Grover, Colorado. He was a member of the Cedar Creek Church.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 22, at the Weir-Cookes Funeral Home. Rev. Ardith Anderson will officiate. Interment will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery near Salem.
