Robert Erwin Clifford was born in Alburgh Isle, Vt. on 11 March 1859, 1 of 11 children born to Robert Clifford and Agnes McWhirter both of whom were Irish immigrants. Robert Jr. left home suddenly under circumstances that weren't known to most family members and he ended up working as a station agent in Eastman, Qc. He married Jennie Adeline Dingman (1865-1914) 24 May 1886 in South Stukely, Qc and they had 3 children: Jennie Francis Clifford 1887-1942, Henry Gordon Clifford B 1888 - ? and Inez Winnifred Clifford 1890-1955. Robert was killed on the job 23 Feb. 1891 when a rail car he was working on derailed and he was thrown from the car and crushed to death instantly.(contributed by [email protected])
