Darrell was born July 10, 1928 in Urbana, IA to James Harold Dake and Erma Reid. He graduated High School in 1947. He had a career in the US Air Force and obtained the rank of Senior Master SGT. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He was married in Germany, while in the Army, on Oct. 17, 1958 to Katharina Maria Hoff. He died of Parkinson's disease on June 29, 2002 at Muskogee, OK and was buried July 3, 2002 at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, OK.
