William was in the military during the Civil war, Company I, 12th Georgia Regiment. His wife Mary filed for a Civil War pension.
William died of Paralysis, His attending doctor wsa Dr. Henry Walls.
He was originally buried in Old Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Weowee, Randolph County, Alabama. He was moved on September 12, 1979 to Wedowee Masonic Cemetery, Wedowee, Randolph County, Alabama.
