Orville L. Cook, Jr., 74, of 11444 Illinois Route 29, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Pekin Hospital.

Born January 14, 1934 in Hammond, Indiana to Orville L. and Irene M. (Bernhardt) Cook, Sr., he married Ruth Holloway on July 13, 1967 in San Jose.

Surviving are his wife; 3 daughters, Vicki (Donald) Pyatt, JoAnn (Rick) Wilson, and Sarah Cook, all of Pekin; 4 brothers, Donny Cook of Colorado, Richard (Linda) Cook and Kenny Cook, both of Pekin, and Larry (Alice) Cook of Congerville; and 2 sisters, Gladys Kastner of San Jose and Delores Baker of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Orville worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria and Mossville for 24 years, retiring in 1996 as a transmission assembler.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-57.

Orville was a shade tree car mechanic and a woodworker.

He was a Chicago White Sox baseball fan and an Illini basketball fan.

Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Army.
