It becomes our unpleasant duty to record the death of Viva Miranda, daughter of Nelson C. and Sarah Miranda Allred, who passed away at her home at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
She has been very sick for some three weeks, although her sickness is of long standing. While spending the season of 1902-03 in Montpelier Idaho, Viva had an attack of Scarlet Fever, which, the physicians say brought on mitral regurgitation of the heart, from which she was never free until her death.
Viva was born August 1st. 1895 at Fairview, Wyoming and was baptized August 2nd, 1903 by Chester F. Campbell at Fairview, and was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on the same day by Ole Al Jensen.
She was an active worker in the Sunday School and Primary, and of the Sunday School in Afton.
She became a member of the Y.L.M.I. A. at Afton during the winter of 1908-09.
In the fall of 1907 she moved with her parents from Fairview to Afton, where she has resided until her death.
The funeral will take place today (Friday) at two o'clock, at Afton and the interment will take place at Fairview.
The Independent joins here many friends in mourning her loss.

The funeral of Viva Allred which came off last Friday was attended by a large crowd. The speakers were Bishop Barrus and Emery Barrus of Fairview and A.F. Burton, President Osmond and Bishop Osborne Low. The remarks of all were touching and instructive. The burial took place at Fairview, and when the cortege arrived in the town the children of the Sunday School and of the Primary Association of Fairview, fell in line and marched two by two at the head of the procession, to the grave yard, where they put flowers on the grave and sang a hymn, as a token of love to the departed.
Calvert Allred, who had been sent for, from school at Logan, came in the night that Viva died, and was in time to bid good-bye to her.
Mr and Mrs. Albert Dunford, and Mr and Mrs. James a Nelson from Bloomington, and Mrs Charlotte Welder from Georgetown, came in to attend the funeral, and stayed over until Tuesday morning.
