Graveside services for E. E. (Windy) Askins, Sr., 78, of Lubbock, will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at Abernathy Cemetery with Brent McCall officiating. E.E. (Windy) passed away Sept. 1, 2008, in Lubbock.

Elmer Eugene Askins was born Dec. 5, 1929, in Ringwood, Okla., to the late Charley and Jewell (Hill) Askins. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a longtime resident of Lubbock. E. E. owned and operated Windy's Truck Stop and Tire Service. He married Ann Watts, Dec. 5, 1999. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lubbock. E. E. was preceded in death by brothers, Merle Dean, and Charles Ray Askins; son, Elmer Eugene Askins, Jr.; daughter, Theresa Leann Askins; and grandson, Shawn Brandon Askins.

Those left to cherish his memory are his family, Ann, Calvin and Jeena Askins, Robert and Roxie Askins, all of Amarillow, Jeff and Caralin McDonald of Lubbock, and Heath and Marilyn Mitchell of Sanger, 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers; and in-law's, W.L. and Twity Watts of Abernathy.
