Charles Bobb came to Pennsylvania from Germany via Maryland with his mother Margaret and father Frederick. About 1865, her husband having died, Margaret took the younger children, including Charles, on a riverboat from Pittsburg, PA to Orion, Wisconsin, where her older son, Peter, had already taken up land in Section 32 and settled. Charles later took up land but eventually moved into the village of Orion where he died.
