A Highly Respected Citizen Passed Away on Monday Evening..
M.L.Bobb died Monday evening at about 6 o'clock at his home on west Third street, as a result of a stroke of apoplexy. He suffered the stroke some time in May, but at the time it did not incapacitate him from work and for some time afterwards he attended to his duties as clerk of courts. Myron L. Bobb was born in the town of Martinsburg, Blair county, Pa., on Aug.30,1842, and was a little over 60 years of age. At the age of twelve years he accompanied his parents to the frontier in Wisconsin, in 1854, and located at Orion, Richland County. When the war broke out the deceased although but 19 years old, enlisted in the service of his country, joining Co. H 5th Wis. infantry and served with it for three years. When his term of enlistment expired he returned to Orion to again make his home. In 1868 he was united in marriage to the wife who survives him and six children were born to them, four boys and two girls, and they are left to mourn his death. Until 1879 he was a school teacher and taught nine terms in the schools of that county. That year he was elected town clerk of Orion, and was also elected town treasurer. In the spring of 1882 Mr.Bobb came to Dakota and located on a claim in Beulah twp. Up to a few years ago he devoted his time and attention to the cultivation of the soil, and in this respect he has been very successful. In that twp Mr.Bobb held this position of civil clerk until he left to move to town, and was also school clerk under the twp and district system. In 1898 Mr Bobb was nominated by the republican party for the position of clerk of courts and reelected two years ago. Since his sickness the duties of the office have been attended to by his daughter, Miss Dora Z. Bobb in a very capable and efficient manner. He was honest, thoroughly reliable, conscientious, and one whom the people could trust implicitly. He had a genial nature and always had a kindly greeting for all his acquaintances.
Funeral services were held at the residence this afternoon at 3 o'clock conducted by Rev.D.R.Tomlin, of the Congregational church, in the absence of Rev. Mr.Youngman. There were a large number of friends and the floral offerings were very beautiful. The Grand Army of the Republic attended the services in a body, and at the grave the last sad rites were performed by the members of the order. The county officials closed their offices in the court house and attended the services. The following were the pallbearers: W. Plotner, S.Cattrell, J.C.Roth, John Grace, A.B.Kelsey, James McKinley."
