Adelheid "Addie" Block

Adelheid "Addie" Block, age 87, a resident of Lastrup, died on Sunday, May 28, 1989 in Brainerd. Addie was born on July 2, 1901 in Granite Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to John and Anna (Nelles) Schommer. She grew up in the Lastrup area, where she married Bernard "Ben" Block on June 5, 1923 at St. John's Catholic Church. Following their marriage, they farmed near Lastrup until 1965 when they moved to the town of Lastrup. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Christian Mother's Society.

She is survived by 4 sons: Theodore and his wife, Marie of Hillman, Clarence and his wife, Vange and Clifford and his wife, Bette both of rural Lastrup and Chester and his wife, Kathy of Warba; 5 daughters, Mrs. Ervin (Janet) Meyer of Brainerd, Delores Block of Minneapolis, Mrs. Robert (Addie) Stenzel of Minnetonka, Mrs. Jerome (Judith) Noskoviak of Elk Mound, Wisconsin and Grace Block of Seattle, Washington; 1 brother, Peter and his wife, Agnes Schommer of Hillman; 3 sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Gertrude) Young of Duluth, Anne Bowman and Mrs. Paul (Louise) Thrasher both of Minneapolis, 33 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard on October 28, 1978; son, Bernard Jr. in February 1932; 4 brothers, 4 sisters and 1 great-granddaughter.
