Silas James Arthur Beavers married Rosa Ann Pearson on June 8, 1857 in Hardin County,Tennessee.

They lived in Mississippi and Arkansas most of their lives and moved to Lamar County, Texas after the birth of their last child, James F. Beavers in 1880.

Silas James Beavers was a Civil War soldier. He enlisted with the 27th Infantry Regiment Alabama, organized 28 Jan 1862. Muster date, 9 Apr 1865. He enlisted in Capt. Lewis Watson's Company and Roddy's Brigade. When he first enlisted he was in the Infantry and afterwards was transferred from Infantry to Cavalry, this transfer occurred somewhere near the close of the war. In December 1861, Silas James Beavers joined Company B, 27th Alabama Infantry. He was captured at Bakers Creek, Mississippi in 1863, when Gen. Joseph Johnston tried to relieve Grant's siege of Vicksburg. He was paroled and later transferred to Company B, Moreland's Alabama Cavalry Regiment. He fought under Forrest and Wheeler until the war was over. He moved to Lamar County in 1881, and farmed near Roxton.
