Clinton MO - Alice M Briggs, daughter of Joseph and Unity Gray, was born July 26, 1860 in Lee County, Iowa. When six years old her parents moved to Henry County, Missouri, near Roseland, where she grew up to young womanhood.

On the twenty second day of October 1876, she was married to Daniel Briggs. To this union were born ten children, four boys and six girls. Four girls and three boys survive - Claud E, W H, Roy Briggs, Nellie McQueen, Joanna Delozier, Ida Fisher, and Noma Snow. All live near home.

She has two brothers and four sisters living as follows: Sarah Darby, Hartman, Arkansas; Carolina Loveless, Revere, Missouri; Laura Briggs, Roseland, Missouri; John L Gray, and Joseph P Gray, near Roseland. There are twenty-six grandchildren.

She professed faith in Christ at the age of fourteen and united with the Baptist church at Tebo, of which relation she kept sacred until the summons came so suddenly.

She departed this life March 13, 1920. Age 59 years, 7 months and 13 days. Funeral services at Tebo Baptist Church, after which the body was laid to rest in the cemetery nearby, accompanied by a host of sorrowing relatives and friends, who deeply felt the loss of the dear one.
