Martha E. Rodenbeck
Martha E. Rodenbeck, 95, a lifetime resident of Thorndale, Texas, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at a Taylor hospital.
Mrs. Rodenbeck was born Sept. 22, 1908, in Sandoval, the daughter of Lena (Nickel) and Edward Kerlin. On Dec. 16, 1926, she was married to Elmo C. Rodenbeck, who preceded her in death in 1970.
Martha was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale. She always loved working in her garden and preparing a meal.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her two daughters, Betty Hirt and husband Melvin, and Dorothy Leschber, both of Thorndale; son, Dick Rodenbeck and wife Violet of Boerne; sister Lydia Hurta of Waco; two brothers, Martin Kerlin and wife Elbina of Taylor and Otis Kerlin and wife Margaret of Granger; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Condra Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at St. John Lutheran Church, Thorndale with the Rev. Robert Beicke officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale.
Condra Funeral Home in Taylor is in charge of arrangements.
