Graveside services for Alvin L. Swallow, 76, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Clinton Cemetery.
Mr. Swallow died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at a Lawrence retirement center.
He was born Aug. 3, 1932, in Lawrence, the son of Vern and Esther Unger Swallow. He graduated from Berryton High School in 1951.
Mr. Swallow served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for the Santa Fe Railway for 30 years and retired in 1994. He also farmed for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Capitol Post No. 1 and the TCU International.
He married Naida L. Humphrey on Dec. 25, 1953, in Stull. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Hilden-brand, Stull, and Landra Harwood, Lawrence; four grandchildren, Michelle, Rachel, Riley and Tanner; and five great-grandchildren, Trey, Thaddeaus, Taelur, Addison and Elizabeth.
Mr. Swallow was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Becker.
