Wanda L. Nighswander
Wanda L. Nighswander, 78, formerly of 116 Monroe St., Bettsville, died 9:55 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at Toledo Hospital.
Wanda was born Sept. 25, 1927, in Burgoon, to the late Frederick L and Iva (Long) Mutchler. On Feb. 23, 1947, she married Stewart K. Nighswander in Burgoon, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Larry Orton (Marcia) Nighswander of Sanford, Fla.; two daughters, Arlene Louise (Michael) Messina of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Mary Alice (Gary) Hammer of Wilcox, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Joan Mutchler of Burgoon; and a special niece, Barbara Jones of Bettsville. Wanda also had six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Her parents; her husband; two brothers, Fred Mutchler and Wayne Mutchler; and two sisters, Becky Mutchler and Mary Damschroder, preceded her in death.
Wanda was a graduate of Jackson Liberty High School and worked at the Bettsville Post Office for 17 years before retiring. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Firemans Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary of Bettsville.
There will be no funeral held at this time. There will be a private family burial at the Smith Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, at the Engle-Shook Funeral Home in Bettsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
