FATALLY HURT -- ROBERT BEATH
Dr. Thornton of Radical City was in town today and informs us that Mr. Robert Beath, who lived one mile west of Radical, was probably fatally injured by a fall Sunday night. Mr. Beath is upwards of seventy years of age and was one of the early settlers of the county. His family, at home, consists of his wife and two sons.
Mr. Beath was sleeping alone in an upstairs room to which there was a front door without a porch or landing in front of it. He got up in the night and it is thought that he became confused and supposing thst he was down stairs, he walked out of the front door, falling about ten feet. Three ribs were broken loose from his backbone, his collar bone was broken and he received internal injuries. He was still alive at last accounts but it was no thought probable that he could recover.

Robert Charles Beathe was born in West Virginia March 24, 1822 and died in Montgomery Counry, Kansas, April 12, 1899, of injuries spoken of last week. Mr. Beathe was anold settler in Kansas. the writer first knew him in Woodseon County, and before that he had crossed what was then the plains to hunt for gold, and had endured all the hardships of an overland emigrant. He removed to this county in the winter of 1870, settling on a claim south of Sam Connor's but later brought the John Trent claim and built on it, where he died. When we moved to this county, "Uncle" Bob and his mules were in the train, but he not move them. He was married in the spring of 1865, and leaves a wife and five children. His funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the U. b. Church at Radical, by Rev. McGill, Interment at the Murphy Cemetery.
