Myrtle Aase of Bellingham and formerly of Everson died in Bellingham on Friday, Sept. 5, 1997. She was 87.


Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lynden Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellingham.


The daughter of Richard and Mable (Saltzgaber) Brown, she was born in Kearney, Neb., on Sept. 4, 1910. She married Alton Aase on Aug. 11, 1932. The couple moved to the Everson area in 1936.


She was employed at the Kale Canning Company in Everson, the office of the Cannery Workers Union and worked for many years at Ella's Smart Shop in Bellingham.


She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines and enjoyed sewing, gardening and bowling.


She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992.


She is survived by daughters Jean James of Bellingham and Carol Reynolds of Anacortes; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.


Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 2530 Cornwall Ave, Bellingham, WA 98225.


Services were directed by Gillies Funeral Home.
