Viola graduated from Jerico Springs High School in 1925 and from Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield, Mo. in 1931. She taught 34 years, the majority of which were in what is now the Stockton R-1 School District.

On October 30, 1927, she joined the Jerico Springs Methodist Church where she served faithfully for many years. At the time of her death she was sunday school superintendent.

Viola was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jerico Springs Chapter No. 456 where she was presently serving as secretary. She was second vice president of the Social Order of the Beauceant, Bolivar Assembly No. 146.

I CANNOT SAY AND I WILL NOT SAY--THAT SHE IS DEAD--SHE IS JUST AWAY! WITH A CHEERY SMILE AND A WAVE OF THE HAND-SHE HAS WANDERED INTO AN UNKNOWN LAND. AND LEFT US DREAMING HOW VERY FAIR - IT NEEDS MUST BE SINCE SHE LIGERS THERE:

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 4, 1972, in the Jerico Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Frank Calame officiating. Music was by Dwain Hammons with Mrs. Violet Sitton pianist. Escorts were Larry Zimmer, Marion Wilson, Warren Lee Farmer, Dale Young, Oren Morrison, and Elmer Evans.
